Pakistan cricket team captain Sarfraz Ahmed is likely to be rested for the test series against Australia in UAE. Pakistan Vs Australia test series 2018 starts from 7th October 2018 in Dubai. The second test will be played in Abu Dhabi.

Pakistan Vs Australia Squad:

Australia will play a 4-day match with Pakistan-A before they kick off their campaign against Pakistan in Dubai. PCB has already announced the squad for the four-day warm-up game. According to the Pakistan A squad for the test series against Australia, Asad Shafiq will be leading the side which contains several key players like Wahab Riaz and Rahat Ali.

Pakistan’s test squad to face Australia is not yet announced but it is estimated that the announcement may come as the Asia Cup ends. Having said that, the 4-day warm-up game may also play a big role in the selection of the Pakistan squad for the test series against Australia.

Captaincy in place of Sarfraz Ahmed:

The Champions Trophy winning captain of Pakistan, Sarfraz Ahmed, is a very passionate and a tactical cricketer. His street-smart attitude made him rise in the ranks and ultimately he had made his name as one of the finest captains of Pakistan. But recently due to the two consecutive losses against arch-rivals India have made people question his captaincy. While the PCB Chairman has rejected any rumors of taking away the captaincy from the Karachi-born, but giving him a bit of rest would do no harms as the World Cup is getting closer and closer.

In the absence of Sarfraz Ahmed, there is a question of who will lead the Pakistan side? Azhar Ali has lead Pakistan, but he himself surrendered captaincy as his personal form dipped due to the added pressure of leading the national side.

So, with Asad Shafiq being given the captaincy of Pakistan-A may give us a hint of what PCB is planning. The middle-order batsman has served as the vice-captain of the side since Sarfraz Ahmed has taken reigns. But let’s see how Asad Shafiq will deal with this situation as he likely will become the next test captain of Pakistan.

Wicket-Keeper in place of Sarfraz Ahmed:

On the pitches of UAE and in the scorching heat, wicket-keeping is an important issue. Muhammad Rizwan is likely to replace Sarfraz Ahmed as the wicket-keeper of the national side. Although he is a very talented player, he still hasn’t got himself going in the International circuit. It is a big opportunity for him to express himself in the conditions that are likely to favor Pakistan more than their opposition.
